Hello all and welcome to another lovely dev diary! This week we've got some exciting new updates regarding the future games (yes, that's plural!) being developed by Doc F. But first, let's start with Prologue. Prologue Patch and Finalization The 1.4 patch series for prologue is coming to an end. From what I've heard, the save game problem is now a terrible nightmare from the past, still haunting my dreams but causing no actual harm. There's still a few minor bug fixes/QoL improvements to be made, but Horror at Adesaw: Prologue is reaching the end of it's active development stage. It's been an incredible process, and I've learned so much about game development over the last two months it makes my head spin. I'll be taking these lessons in stride to make future work a smoother process both for me, and you. Speaking of the future... Work Begins on the Next Book Prologue was always meant to be a test run for the overall series -- a way to understand the stages of developing an app. In many ways, Prologue is the pilot program for the rest of the series. Book 1 will contain the game mechanics from Prologue but will also add so, so much more. Here is a working list:
1. Your character will have a full stat system, and classes which will alter gameplay style. 2. NPC's that will work with your character and fight alongside them. 3. A social links system, which will allow you to develop relationships with NPCs to provide benefits. 3. Procedurally generated dungeons. 4. A school simulator system, very similar to the one used by the Persona series. 5. Calendar progression, complete with morning-afternoon-night cycles, and a weather system. Over the coming weeks and months, we'll be discussing these ideas in more detail. We'll also go into more detail about the setting and plot-line. For a heads up though: Book 1 will take place during your first semester at Adesaw University, and deal with solving a terrible crime at the school, and well as uncovering the mysteries hinted at during Prologue. New Doc Fishopolis Ops Series Under Development Yes, I am probably putting way too much on my plate. But this is fun, and I'm overflowing with ideas. The new series will also be a story-centric game, but will have a largely different style and feel to Horror at Adesaw. I don't want to go into big details because it will be the focus of next week's dev diary, but I can make a few teasers: 1. It will be a different genre and take place in a different time period. 2. It will not be an RPG game, and focus more on dialogue options and branching stories. 3. It's going to be totally rad and I can't wait to unveil the story next week That's for for me today! I'll see you all next week when we officially unveil the next series from Doc Fishopolis Operations.
