Hey everybody and welcome to back^^ Thesis submission is done, and that means we'll be back to our regular weekly updates for the foreseeable future. This week I'm very excited to reveal some of the RPG components for our next game, which will be officially called, "Horror at Adesaw: Initiation"! A perfect title to signify your official entrance to Adesaw University and the dark rituals you must uncover to survive. Below the jump, let's read more about stats and classes... The Stat System
Horror at Adesaw: Initiation will introduce a stat system that will add a lot of gameplay elements to the next game. The four major stats are: Intellect: Your raw IQ, your natural problem-solving and academic ability. Characters with a high intellect will have an easier time on tests, and will be able to outsmart their opponents Lore: Your knowledge of the occult and esoteric arts. Characters with a high lore know more than anyone about the secrets of the Eldritch, and they will be able to identify dark forces more easily and find their weaknesses. Charisma: A natural charmer, and the center of attention. You can win the admiration of almost anyone, even those who would consider you a rival. Brawn: Your brute strength. You don't care about fancy statistics or logical reasoning -- your knowledge comes from your fist. If you're brawny, you can overpower even the toughest foes. These stats will have a variety of uses in Initiation. Some dialogue options will require skill checks to succeed and can help you build friendships faster. Also, the skills you have in these areas will directly effect how well you fare against opponents in combat, and they will increase on level ups. This is all still in the very early stage and subject to change. Also, any comments, questions, or suggestions are welcome. Classes Another major feature in Initiation will be the class system. In the beginning sequence of the game you will be able to choose one of four main classes. Each class is associated with a corresponding stat, which will be their area of expertise. Likewise, each class has its own weakness which will make you want to think carefully about the team you use in combat. Classes will have other benefits. NPCs that share the same class will allow you to grow friendships more quickly with them. Also, special areas will be opened up that only a certain class can enter. Finally, each class has a special ability that will upgrade as you progress to higher levels. This is a lot of info, and we will go into more detail in future dev diaries! We'll end today's dev diary by a simple listing of the classes. Can you guess what skill each class is associated with? Team captain Valedictorian Student body president Research student Wow, that was a lot! Told you there was plenty going on^^ Next week, we'll be switching over to NEON DARK to talk a little bit more about the general concept of the game. See you then.
