Hello all and happy 2019! Things have been quiet on this end, but rest assured I have been continuing work on the next installment of Adesaw and the upcoming game NEON DARK Things have been weird with the development cycle, so let me give you a brief rundown after the jump on what's been happening in the last months of 2018 here at Doc Fishopolis Ops: The Horror at Adesaw series:
Horror at Adesaw has been seeing some ups and downs as of late. After a burst of energy building the game systems for Initiation, work stalled once it became apparent just how complicated that game was going to be. In all honestly, I do not have the programming ability to pull that game off yet. It's daunting, and at the pace I was going it would be years before I got it finished. That's something I didn't want. While Initiation is not being shelved by any means, it's going to be the pinnacle of what I hope to achieve. I'll need to do a lot more learning before I can finish that, which I plan to do. In the meantime I will be making a different entry in the Adesaw series that will be very similar in style to Prologue. But bigger! and hopefully with a longer plot that stretches over days and locations, as opposed to one evening in your parent's basement. More to come soon, but know that I am actively writing the story, and I know what the game will be about and how it will connect to other entries in the series. NEON DARK Oh NEON DARK. I have so many interesting ideas for this game, but it is so damn hard to make because it's coming completely from my own imagination. Unlike Adesaw, which was heavily inspired by the "Horror in the Darkness" series on Android, I'm basically making NEON DARK from the ground up. It will have a lot of similar elements to Adesaw, but the way the story progresses will be very different. Furthermore, the story will be a lot 'deeper' and involve more thematic elements, which means it takes longer to write. Regardless, I am actively writing this story as well. I have not storyboarded the entire plot, but I have a general idea of how it will flow and what the major plot points will be. Just this last weekend (hurray!) I finally made a new android project for NEON DARK, and I'm playing around with the look and design. Next will be to build up the various systems to get an idea of how the story will unfold in game time, and that will heavily influence the writing style. Cross your fingers that I don't get buried in too much work! Horror at Adesaw: Prologue Just a quick note regarding Prologue. We're still getting downloads, we're still getting reviews, and we're actually getting slightly more activity, nearly 10 months after the initial release. We've also been getting more people emailing in about the game, which is awesome! I love answering fan questions and it's a great motivator to keep working. This weekend version 1.8 was released, a very minor update that fixed just two things. First, there was still a pesky bug toward the end of the game and I'm happy to say it should be gone forever now. Second, I switched out the button to take you to our Twitter page and replaced with an email button to me. Nobody ever commented on twitter, so what was the point? Hopefully, this easier access will get more people emailing me, and making them likelier to give a (very very positive) review of the game, which is always helpful. That's all for today, see you next time!
